This may sound crazy, but as a child we would use a cotton ball to dab on Pine sol (especially on our legs, ankles, and feet) before working in the garden or berry picking. We reeked of Pine sol, but it beat the heck out of being eaten alive by chiggers!

Those tomatoes look amazing, and I don't even like raw tomatoes! Seriously, I know chigger bites are awful, but if you put on long pants - for extra protection, you can even pull socks up OVER your pants - and then go out, you should be safe. It works for mosquitoes and ticks, so I'm sure it would work with chiggers too.
